Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills has received a special surprise from his co-host, Rylan Clark, ahead of his wedding to fiancé Sam Vaughan.

On Friday, 24 May, Rylan Clark revealed that he had organised a surprise for Scott, prior to him getting married, as Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac could be heard delivering a special message.

Annie said: "Oh my goodness, you're about to get married," as Nick chimed in: "Oh my god, congratulations. It's going to be some party, but do you know what I'm most excited about? It is gonna go off. It is gonna reach new levels."

Annie asked "what?" and Nick explained: "The spray tan. It is gonna reach new levels. I can't wait to see what shade the bride (presumably Scott) goes."

Nick continued: "I hope that Scott goes full varnish," as Annie said: "Well you only get married once, hopefully."

After Nick and Annie wished Scott all the best, Scott said: "Aww, I love them, Nick and Annie."

Admitting he already had a spray tan booked in, Scott explained: "They're joking but I have got a double-dip booked at 7pm. They do you once and then they say 'do you want to double-dip?' and you can go again.

Rylan then quipped: "Sorry, are you explaining that to me?" as Scott clarified that he was explaining it to the show's listeners.

The broadcaster, 51, announced in 2021 that he was engaged to boyfriend of four years Sam, who he is set to wed on Saturday, 25 May, in Spain, with best pal Rylan by his side. In an exclusive chat with OK!, Scott revealed that he's "feeling the pressure" ahead of his nuptials.

"Planning is going really well, it's really near now," he said. "It's a summer wedding. I think we're worked out all the logistics of everything and what's going to happen on the day."

Scott added that despite being a long-established radio presenter, he's nervous about his speech - which he's yet to write. "What I haven't written yet, which I think I should tackle quite soon and I'll probably do it the week after Eurovision, is my speech," he added.

"I think especially in my job, there will be high expectations of 'Oh his speech is going to be good.' Well, I haven’t written it yet and also I'm not that good at public speaking despite being on the radio every day. So I think I'm feeling the pressure about my speech, because I've got to nail that, haven’t I?"

As for whether guests can expect a Eurovision theme for his big day, Scott admitted that there will be "nods" to the iconic singing contest.

"I'm actually taking my fiancé to Eurovision this year. When we met, he kind of knew what I did but he didn't know that I worked on Eurovision and he was like, 'No, I don't like Eurovision, it's not really for me, I don't get it.'"
