Sarah Ferguson fans spot error with her sweet birthday tribute to late Queen
Sarah Ferguson's fans spotted a glaring error in her birthday tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II on Instagram.
The Duchess of York, 64, who was thought to have been close to the Queen in the years leading up to her death in 2022, shared a smiling snap of the late monarch as she wrote a touching message.
It read: "Today we are remembering Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on what would have been her 97th birthday. Thank you for all that you have taught us, for being a steadfast leader and dear friend. You are sorely missed."
However, eagle-eyed fans pointed out that Sarah had gotten the age that the late Queen would have been wrong, as she would actually have turned 98, had she been alive today.
Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926. Her Majesty passed away on September, 8, 2022, leaving the world devastated.
Many of Sarah's Instagram followers rushed to the comments on her post to point out the error, with one writing: "Eh, 98 would have been," whilst another said: "Your Highness it would have been her 98th birthday day."
A third commented: "1926 to 2024 should be 98." At the time of writing this article, Sarah's post still reads that the Queen would have been 97 today.
Sarah was married to Queen Elizabeth's second son, Prince Andrew, from 1986 to 1996. They separated in 1992, but their divorce wasn't official until 1996. Sarah became estranged from the Royal Family following her separation from Prince Andrew.
However, she and her ex-husband maintained a strong relationship for the sake of their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. The pair are firm friends and even live together at the Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate, although they're not thought to be romantically involved.
Following the Queen's death in 2022, Sarah and Andrew took in Her Majesty's beloved Corgis, Sandy and Muick, who now live with them at their home.
In 2023, Sarah claimed that the dogs can see the former monarch in a ghostly form. Speaking to People magazine, she said: "They are national icons, so every time they run chasing a squirrel, I panic. But they're total joys, and I always think that when they bark at nothing, and there's no squirrels in sight, I believe it's because the Queen is passing by."
Fergie added: "They're with me a lot, and they think I'm very funny."
Sarah has endured a difficult couple of years, after beating breast cancer, before revealing her skin cancer diagnosis. In March this year, she revealed that she has received the "best news" she "could have hoped for" after being told there has been no further spread of her skin cancer since her worrying diagnosis was revealed in January.
