Breastfeeding mums will appreciate that finding stylish clothes that also offer easy access to your boobs can be quite the challenge.

Thankfully, Sainsbury’s has stepped forward to offer a range of breastfeeding-friendly clothes for it’s TU brand.

The collection has been put together with the help of the ‘Can I Breastfeed In It?’ community, a group that shares outfit ideas for breastfeeding mums.

It includes a wide range of options for nursing mums including shirts, blouses, pinafores, jumpsuits and tops, offering design features including zips, wrap fronts and button-through options for quick access.

From on-trend checked shirts to cute floral pinafore dresses, the collection will no doubt be a game-changer for breastfeeding mums wanting stylish yet practical options.

Most pieces range from sizes 8-22, with some items available up to a size 28. Prices start at £14 and the most expensive piece is a dress for £45.

Commenting on the collection a spokesperson from Tu said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a section of our website dedicated to breastfeeding- friendly clothes, making it easier for mums to find functional, stylish clothes. We look forward to featuring styles recommended by the Can I Breastfeed In It community.”

Unsurprisingly, new mums and mums-to-be were pretty pleased with the range and the Facebook post announcing the collection quickly clocked up over 12K likes and received thousands of comments from style savvy parents.

“Well done Sainsbury’s! Finally breastfeeding friendly clothes are not classed as maternity! This should have happened ages ago!” one user wrote.

“Thank you Sainsburys! All too often the only ‘breastfeeding’ clothing is also maternity! However you may continue breastfeeding long after losing your bump!” another added.

“Yes! This is brilliant. I'm part of the Can I Breastfeed In It community and am so proud of the part of the community played in this happening. Thank you Sainsburys,” yet another user commented.

The fashion industry seems to be making strides to be more inclusive for breastfeeding mums of late.

Back in September fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff was praised for featuring a breastfeeding mum in her 2019 NYFW show.

Images from the show reveal model Mara Martin breastfeeding her daughter, Aria, with a bright pink Medala breast pump on the table next to her.

Sharing the image to Instagram Martin revealed that she was proud to be asked to help offer such a powerful nod to working and breastfeeding mums.

“When @rebeccaminkoff asked me to be a part of her show as a model and mother while nursing Aria I immediately said yes,” she wrote.

“She wanted me to represent the working mom for her during part of her show, because that’s what I am.”

It actually wasn’t the first time Mara Martin has flown the flag for breastfeeding mums on the runway.

Last July, the model walked the catwalk while breastfeeding her then 5-month-old daughter for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show.
