How Ryan Reynolds Changed Blake Lively’s Mind About Her Unique Middle Name
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively may be one of the most supportive, creative and funny couples in Hollywood right now, but it sounds like the Deadpool actor also possesses a strong power of persuasion.
During a recent press junket interview to promote her new film, It Ends With Us, Lively's co-star Isabela Ferrer—who plays a younger version of the actor’s character Lily Bloom in the film—struggled to work out what her colleague’s middle name is.
‘I don't talk about it much,’ Lively admitted, before Ferrer noted that she knew that Lively’s ‘proper last name’ is Brown, while her mother’s maiden name is Lively. While she continued to attempt to work out the mother-of-four’s last name, the actor revealed her middle name is ‘Ellender’.

‘It’s not a name. My mum, I think, made it up by accident,’ Lively commented. ‘It’s not a word, it doesn’t exist.
‘I'm not Dumbledore, it's Ellender,’ the 36-year-old joked about the pronunciation of the unusual name, joking that the famous Harry Potter wizard's character is ‘probably a better option’.
‘I always like was really confused by it, so I always hated it,’ Lively continued, before adding that her husband changed her mind. ‘But my husband loved it, which made me like it more. And he's like, “It sounds like lavender.” And I was like, “Ooh.”’
Reynolds previously joked that he ‘just found out’ his wife's last name when she revealed she was launching a new haircare line, Blake Brown, last month. ‘I'm obscenely proud of this woman,’ the actor also wrote in an Instagram Story. ‘The result is exactly what you'd expect of a hyper-obsessive, detail addicted, uncompromisingly quality control genius.’
The couple have seemingly been on almost every red carpet in recent weeks following the release of Lively’s film and Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine. The couple have been married 2012 and share four children: James, Inez, Betty, and Olin.
