Loose Women viewers' complaints after show slammed in racist row
Loose Women has long been a popular daytime show, having started airing back in 1999. Airing on weekdays, the women-led talk show sees a number of panellists join the show on rotation, including the likes of Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford, Kelly Holmes, Christine Lampard and Olivia Attwood Dack.
Other panellists who have proven to be popular with viewers are journalist Charlene White, singer Brenda Edwards, comedian Judi Love and actress Kéllé Bryan. However, when the four women teamed up to front Loose Women together last year, in a special episode to remember Brenda's late son Jamal Edwards. Unfortunately a small number of viewers complained across social media and made derogatory comments towards the panel.
A handful of viewers made cruel comments about Loose Women having an all-black female panel, with some sharing racist comments on social media on ITV's pages.

“What is it with ITV, are they run by some Ofcom Diversity Group. Look at this racist garbage from Loose Women yesterday. What is this? I know it was a commemoration of a death, but 4 Black presenters, who all have big mouths too," one person unfortunately wrote on X at the time.
Somebody else sadly chimed in: “@loosewomen i see you doing a show with an all black line up. How woke of you. I assume you will also be doing future shows with all asian panel? Maybe an all trans line up? Would be a bit un-woke and racist if u didn't surely?”
It wasn't the first time Brenda, Judi, Charlene and Kéllé had faced discriminatory comments from viewers of the ITV daytime show. They teamed up in 2021 to host a special episode of Loose Women to mark Black History Month, prompting a small minority of TV viewers to express negative opinions about them.
Over the years, Loose Women has been hit with many complaints from viewers, with some even making formal complaints to Ofcom about the content of the daytime show. Panellists such as Katie Piper and Denise Welch have both been the subject of TV viewers' official complaints, especially when things have gotten heated on the ITV show.
Denise faced over 100 Ofcom complaints earlier this year after becoming embroiled in a row over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Loose Women. Denise argued with former press secretary Dickie Arbiter on the panel, sparking viewers to complain. She later responded to the complaints on social media, branding them "utterly pathetic".
