Ruth Langsford fires back at troll saying ‘you won’t shame me’ as she’s criticised for advertising Christmas food
Ruth Langsford has hit back at a troll who has criticised her for advertising expensive food and clothes. Ruth, who is best known as a host on Loose Women, has been sharing her passion for food recently on social media and clearly stated that a recent post was an advert for Tesco’s Finest range.
In the post, she shared a video in which she sat in front of a table laden with food. She says: “Are you obsessed with these platter boards like I am?” and then adds that she would show viewers how she made hers. She states that she has teamed up with Tesco, and that the Finest range current has a three for two offer for Clubcard users.
She shows all the food she is going to use, including olives, French cheese and a quiche, and then demonstrates how she arranges it on a platter board. At the end, Ruth describes it as “entertaining made very easy,” but that didn’t impress one of her followers.

They wrote: “Do you ever think of the homeless while advertising expensive food and clothes.” This led Ruth to reply: “You have no idea what I do for, or contribute to, charities, so if you’re trying to shame me it won’t work!”
Fans were quick to support Ruth in the comments on her post, with one writing: “You tell them Ruthie!” and another added: “It’s a job like most of us have to do to earn our way. Ruth is in the public eye and yes, this is probably a paid job she is doing but there’s worse ways people are ‘earning'. You are looking so well & glam too lately Ruth, good on you.”
Ruth, who has responded to trolls in the past, also replied to another disgruntled follower who described her as a “non entity” who was “plugging Tesco,” by replying: “Oh dear… someone got out of bed the wrong side this morning! Dear o dear lol!”
This year has been a testing one for Ruth, as she announced her split from husband Eamonn Holmes after 14 years of marriage back in May. Speaking on Loose Women on 12 November, she was chatting to guest Tommy Fury about his own public break up with Mollie Mae Hague. She said: "It's a tricky time as I know, going through all of these things in public, and everyone has got something to say, without knowing the truth!”
Eamonn and Ruth tied the knot in 2010, and they have a son, Jack, born in 2002. The couple announced their decision to divorce in a statement released on May 25, 2024.
