Will We Get A Second Season Of 'Running Point'? Courtesy of Netflix

The season finale of Netflix's Running Point finished with a number of cliffhangers — from Isla (Kate Hudson) and Lev's (Max Greenfield) rocky relationship to her steamy moment with coach Jay (Jay Ellis) and Cam's (Justin Theroux) unexpected return back to the office — everything relating to Isla's personal and professional life is up in the air.

An even bigger question was left looming — whether Running Point will be renewed for a second season or not. If comments from the show's co-creator Mindy Kaling and Jay Ellis (Coach Jay) are anything to go by though, we're in luck.

Below, we detail everything that there is to know about the end of Running Point season one, and the show's potential future.

What Happened At The End Of Season One Of 'Running Point'?

Honestly, a lot. From the Los Angeles Waves final game against the Portland Trail Blazers to Isla and Lev's unsteady relationship to Isla and Coach Jay's growing connection, there's a lot to unpack.

Did The Los Angeles Waves Make It To The Finals?

Throughout the first season, many underestimated Isla's capability of heading up the Waves, however, by the end of the season she has successfully led the team to game seven of the playoffs.

During the final game, the two teams are close in score for most of the match, until they manage to catch up in the final minute, leaving the Waves one point behind the Portland Trail Blazers. Thanks to Dyson Gibbs (Uche Agada) scoring two free throws, the Waves are then tied until the Blazers score a last second shot, leaving the Waves narrowly missing out on the Western Conference Finals.

Are Isla And Lev Still Together?

As Isla was thrown into the deep end in her role as president of the Waves, we see her spending pretty much all of team attending to the needs of the team and players, which leads to her sidelining her fiancé, Lev.

Fed up, he eventually moves out of their joint home and heads to Minnesota for a new job opportunity. Realising the gravity of the issue, and her love for Lev, she turns up to his office and apologises. While he accepts her apology and asks her to give him time to process everything, his absence at the big game against the Blazers might be an indication of his answer, as Isla is left feeling unsure of the status of their relationship.

What Happened Between Isla And Coach Jay?

Given that Isla is now spending much of her time with the players and Waves' staff, we see her get a lot closer to Coach Jay. Throughout season one, the pair share a few heart-to-heart moments, however, things heat up more than expected when they share a courtside kiss after the Waves' loss. Shocked by the moment, Jay awkwardly pulls back and leaves Isla standing in the arena by herself.

Will Cam Go Back To His Job As President Of The Waves?

For much of season one, Isla's brother Cam, who handed over the presidential role to her, has been in rehab. While viewers and Isla might have thought that Cam had Isla's best interests at heart, we come to realise that was not the case when it's revealed that Cam was the person behind the rumours surrounding the Waves' star player Marcus.

Towards the end, Cam makes several attempts to bribe his way out of rehab, though it’s left uncertain whether he manages to escape — until the very final moments of season one. Isla walks into her office and is surprised to see Cam sat at her desk, leaving viewers hanging with his unexpected return.

Has Season Two Of 'Running Point' Been Confirmed?

While confirmation for the second season of Running Point is still yet to come through, there's plenty of reason to believe that we'll be getting another dose of Isla Gordon and the Los Angeles Waves.

During an interview with Netflix Tudum, Chet Hanks spoke about his hopes for the future of his character, Travis Bugg. 'Hopefully he cleans up his act,' the actor said. 'When I saw the episodes, I was happy with my performance. But the main thing I was excited about is just how everybody is so funny. Everybody stands on their own within each one of their characters, and the way we all interact with each other just feels so natural.'

He's not the only member of the show who is hopeful of Running Point's return. During an interview with Decider, Ellis revealed that the cast members 'all hope for there's a season 2,' and 'We'd be excited to work together again.'

Later, the actor added that there's plenty material for the show to continue: 'It reflects the world, the real world of a sports franchise and an NBA franchise. It’s ever-changing, right? It’s constantly ever-changing and the dynamics are constantly changing and how these characters react to those dynamics and each other as they’re growing and stumbling their way through this. It’s such a fun thing to explore. So to Scott’s point, I think it could go as long as Netflix is willing to write the check.'
