Prince Harry breaks with tradition by holding the royal baby
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have finally given the world a glimpse of the royal baby and people are impressed that Prince Harry has broken with tradition to hold his son as the couple introduced him.
Meghan Markle and her husband Harry welcomed a healthy baby boy, weighing 7lbs 3oz, at 05:26am earlier this week on May 6, 2019.
And now the royal couple have posed for their first officials photos with their son.
In the photos Harry, 34, is seen holding his newborn son, while wife Meghan, 37, stands at his side, occasionally touching her baby’s head.
The photos were taken St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, where the couple held their wedding reception last May.
The photoshoot was somewhat different from the first glimpse of other royal babies.
The couple chose to opt out of a larger post-birth photo call, choosing instead to allow a strict number of broadcasters (one television camera and one photo camera) into Windsor Castle.
But as well as being a much more intimate affair than the mass media photo call we’ve seen with previous royal births, the couple broke with tradition by having Harry hold the baby.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posed on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s hospital in Paddington after the births of their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis and each time it was Kate who held the children.
But as royal fans have come to discover, Meghan and Harry like to do things their own way, particularly when it comes to introducing the world to their little one.
Unsurprisingly Twitter is loving the fact that Harry has taken the lead.
Some loved how naturally the Duke seemed to have taken to his new role.
Love that Harry’s holding him, love that it’s a private photocall and not a public appearance. Love how happy they look 💙#RoyalBaby #babysussex pic.twitter.com/zlai0ZRk4K

But others thought the decision to have Prince Harry holding their son was a subtle nod to feminism.
It might be subtle but I appreciate the feminist power move of having Prince Harry holding the baby for their photos #BabySussex

It was previously thought that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would not be posing for photographs with their first child after the birth.
This is in contrast to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who stood on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s in Paddington, after the births of each of their three children.
Harry’s mum Princess Diana was also pictured carrying both of her sons for the first post-birth photocalls, although Prince Charles did also take a turn.
