Rod Stewart's reveals his hilarious parenting trick to get his kids out of bed
Having trouble getting your kids up in the morning for school? Never fear, Rod Stewart has the perfect solution to the dilemma – and it's pretty hilarious.
With a brood of eight kids, the singer knows a thing or two about parenting, and let us all in on one of his secrets on Lorraine.
Talking to Lorraine Kelly, Rod explained that he often has trouble getting his youngest two sons – Alistair and Aiden – up for school.
Giving insight into the dynamic in their family home, and what he's really like as a dad, the music legend revealed: 'It wasn’t easy this morning trying to get two of them out of bed to go back to school.
'Do you know what I do, [put a] cd on [playing] bagpipes, it wakes them up... I did it to my other kids too. Bagpipes in the morning, you can’t sleep through that.'
Rod has eight children from four previous relationships, with Alistair and Aiden being with his current wife, Penny Lancaster.
Chatting to Lorraine, Rod also opened up about his wife Penny, and explained how she is the key to holding his blended family of eight kids together.
The 74-year-old also explained that when his kids initially met Penny, they were a little sceptical of her.
'She is a remarkable talent for [keeping the blended family together],' explained Rod.
'It was hard coming up with all the other kids, they didn’t know if it was another woman trying to get hold of dad’s money... far from it.
'She won them all over and they all adore her now. We just had a wonderful holiday all together in Florida. Florida won’t be the same since the Stewarts were there.'
Another celebrity who has shared their parenting pearls of wisdom is former US first lady, Michelle Obama.
Talking at American Library Association’s annual conference in New Orleans last year, as reported by Associated Press, Michelle opened up about the influence her own parents have had on her parenting, and what advice she has taken from them.
