Robb Recommends: The Advanced Serum Duo Designed to Make Your Hands Look Younger
Welcome to Robb Recommends, a regular series in which our editors and contributors endorse something they’ve tried and loved—and think will change your life for the better.
Before you notice its velvety texture or deeply hydrating finish, the first thing that draws you into Orveda’s new Youth Glove Protocol is how good its two serums smell.

The products, born of a desire to do for the hands what the French biotech skin care company has done for the face, are infused with the comforting scent that all Orveda’s products employ. The verdant aroma comes from galbanum, a resinous plant native to several Mediterranean countries, and it makes using the brand’s various tinctures and moisturizers a pleasure you look forward to.
But the serums, in my experience, do more than just soothe your senses. Their raison d’etre is to help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots on the hands—where our skin tends to work the hardest and gets the least amount of protection from the elements. (Be honest, when was the last time you put sunscreen on the backs of your hands?) To course correct, the products are infused with a range of botanicals for an antioxidant boost, as well as deeply moisturizing gylcerin, and hyaluronic acid. There’s even stevia extract, which some studies suggest creates a retinol-like effect, to help improve collagen production.
Orveda Youth Glove Protocol
The set comprises three products: a mask, a hand cream, and silicone gloves. To use them, you apply the mask first, then the cream, then wear the gloves for 10 minutes to lock in the moisture and allow both products to penetrate the skin even more deeply. And while you can follow the full protocol once a week, the hand cream is sized in a larger container, so you can use it on an as-needed basis.
I’ve been testing the protocol for a few months, and am especially grateful to have it during New York City’s brutally cold winter. It’s helped me stave off the flaky skin I typically endure, and using the hand cream has become one of my favorite pre-bed rituals. The gloves take some getting used to, and it can be a little challenging to get them on when your hands are slick with the two products, but it’s worth the effort. By this point in the season, I usually have a crosshatch of scars between my knuckles from the sheer bite of dry air. But the Youth Glove Protocol has helped the skin on my hands feel stronger and better prepared to handle this time of year—so I’ll be using it all season long.
