The hardest Taskmaster in showbusiness – comedian and actor Greg Davies to you and I - is back with a fresh series of challenges to test the wit, mettle – and sanity – of five new celebrity contestants.
That’s right, Taskmaster returns to our TV screens this month – with the first episode airing Thursday 12 September – and we can’t wait to see what fresh tasks they’ve concocted for the new batch of willing contestants.
In this new series, we’ll see comedians Andy Zaltzman, Babátúndé Aléshé, Emma Sidi, Jack Dee and Rosie Jones take on the Taskmaster and his ever-loyal assistant, Alex Horne, in a bid to win the most coveted trophy in TV – a golden cast of Greg’s disembodied head on a plinth.
The popular Channel 4 series is now in its 18th season, and it sounds like it could be the most side-splittingly hilarious yet. The tasks will include such baffling situations as defusing a robot, locating hidden rockets, counting chairs and pushing a golden envelope. Sound simple? You’ve clearly never watched Taskmaster, as the tasks are designed specifically to be interpreted however the contestants see fit, with the unpredictable Taskmaster, Greg, judging their efforts.
In the first episode, airing next week, we can look forward to watching Andy, Babátúndé, Emma, Jack and Rosie attempting to impress the Taskmaster by searching for a seal, hurling yoga balls in a theme park and force-feeding Alex a bowlful of bubble gum.
It sounds just like the utter nonsense we need in our lives right now.
The new series of Taskmaster will air on Channel 4 on Thursdays at 9pm - watch the first episode on Thursday 12 September.
