Rachel Zoe confirms divorce from Rodger Berman after 26 years of marriage
After 26 years, Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman are ending their marriage and parting ways amicably.
On September 10, the 53-year-old fashion designer took to her Instagram account to give her followers the major update. “Rodger and I have come to the mutual decision to end our marriage,” Zoe’s statement read.
“We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together,” she continued. “Our number one priority has been and will always be our children.”
The former couple share two sons together – Skyler, 13, and Kaius, 11. Since Zoe and Berman said “I do” to each other in February 1996, their professional and personal lives became massively intertwined. They were no longer only partners in their relationship, but they were partners in business, too.
According to Zoe, neither of them have plans to dissolve their working relationship for the foreseeable future. “We are committed to co-parent our boys and to work together within the many businesses we share,” the style mogul shared.
Zoe concluded the joint statement by asking their many followers to give their family space and time to heal. “We ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this new chapter,” she wrote. “With love and gratitude – Rachel & Rodger.”
The duo began dating in 1991 while attending George Washington University. Five years later, Zoe and Berman promised to spend the rest of their lives together in front of their friends and family inside New York City’s Rainbow Room.
Berman has worked closely with Zoe, helping to further her success and developing her career as her business manager. When her Bravo reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project, debuted, it was evident Zoe and Berman’s relationship surpassed that of a normal one. Berman was Zoe’s support system, working beside her to streamline her job as a stylist.
Speaking to Well + Good in 2017, Zoe explained the intimate ways in which they work through any issues between them. “We talk things out,” she admitted. “I think we just deal with it. And anyone that knows us really well would say that our recovery rate is the shortest recovery rate they’ve ever seen.
“We recover in three to five minutes. We just kind of forget about it. That’s what happens after a million years together,” she candidly added.
For months now, Berman has been absent from Zoe’s social media page. In fact, the last time the banker was pictured on her page was for Father’s Day. On June 16, Zoe posted a picture of Berman, Skyler, and Kaius.
She wrote: “Happy Father’s Day to our @rbermanus one of the best to ever do it. Our boys are the luckiest and we are so grateful for you.”
Because Berman was noticeably missing from Zoe’s Instagram, speculation swirled with theories of their imminent divorce.
The Independent has contacted Zoe’s representatives for a comment.
