Camilla has celebrated her 76th birthday on 17 July, her first since becoming Queen, with the occasion being marked with a 41-gun salute in Green Park, London and by special photos and birthday well-wishes posted on the social media accounts of the Royal Family.

Camilla Parker Bowles has long been a name we’re all familiar with – largely due to her role as ‘the other woman’ in Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.

Charles and Camilla made their relationship public in 1998, but didn’t marry until 2005. At the time, it was revealed that Camilla would be known as Princess Consort when the time came for Charles to ascend the throne.

However, this changed in 2022. On the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s ascension to the throne, she announced Camilla would be known as Queen Consort when Charles became King.

“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” the late Queen said at the time.

It was confirmed in April this year that Camilla would instead go by the title of Queen rather than Queen Consort after the coronation had taken place, in line with tradition.

Camilla was crowned alongside King Charles on 6 May, a ceremony which saw her grandsons and grandnephew act as her pages of honour.
