Queen Letizia of Spain Remembers Late Mango Founder With Latest Look for Seminar Event

Queen Letizia of Spain returned to her power suiting ways for a public event on Tuesday in Spain. The royal attended the closing of the 17th “International Seminar on Language and Journalism,” organized by Fundéurae and the San Millán de la Cogolla Foundation.

Letizia wore a double-breasted blazer courtesy of Mango, along with coordinated trousers in a similar tone. Queen Letizia’s blazer featured pockets at the waist on either side and included six buttons — four of which were fastened.

Other details of the blazer included sharp lapels and soft, rounded shoulders for an added touch of tension. Queen Letizia wore a black crewneck top beneath her blazer, opted for minimal jewelry pieces and completed her look with a pair of loafers.

Mango’s founder, Isak Andic, died on Saturday in Spain. He was 71 years old. Queen Letizia’s decision to wear a Mango design may have been a sartorial nod to the noted Spanish businessman. Queen Letizia previously wore Mango designs for other royal engagements.

Like many royals across the globe, Queen Letizia’s suits are a staple of her capsule wardrobe for public engagements. Power suiting for royal women exploded in the 1980s, thanks to the likes of pioneering fashion icons like Princess Diana, who famously wore a Catherine Walker suit with a Hackett waistcoat for an event in April 1988.

Throughout 2024, however, Queen Letizia demonstrated her royal wardrobe’s versatility. Power suits are not the only piece of the royal’s wardrobe she regularly wears. In fact, 2024 featured plenty of unique styles from the Spanish royal from asymmetrical dresses to bohemian-inspired designs and more.

While attending Spain’s reception at the Spanish Embassy in Paris prior to the 2024 Summer Olympics last July, Queen Letizia turned to the runway for inspiration for her attire. The royal wore a dress from French luxury fashion house Dior‘s spring 2024 couture collection, paying homage to the host city of the Olympic Games.

Queen Letizia is among the royals who styled distinct, unique attire in 2024 for various public engagements. The Spanish royal isn’t alone, joining the likes of Meghan Markle, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and Kate Middleton, who made her return to public engagements in the latter months of 2024 following the completion of her chemotherapy treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
