Queen Letizia of Spain Favors Pleating and Asymmetry in & Other Stories Dress for Royal Engagement in Madrid
Queen Letizia of Spain opted for asymmetry, pleating and a bold pattern for her look during a royal engagement on Tuesday in Madrid. The Spanish royal presented the Royal Academy of Sciences of Spain Foundation Awards for Young Female Scientific Talent at the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences.
For the special occasion, Queen Letizia opted for a midi dress courtesy of & Other Stories. The dress featured a fitted bodice with billowing sleeves that cinched at the cuffs. The sleeves also included a slight pleated detailing.

As for the skirt of the frock, Queen Letizia’s dress included an asymmetric hemline with pleating on the skirt. The dress also featured a cinched waist for a more defined silhouette. The pattern of the dress included a deep, muted green color with variations throughout and subtle botanical inspiration.
Queen Letizia wore a pair of suede boots courtesy of Magrit to complete the look. She accessorized with a few pieces of jewelry, including a ring by Coreterno and earrings by Pdpaola. Her long brunette hair was styled with a side part and her makeup featured bold brows, a slight smoky eye and a glossy lip.
& Other Stories is owned by H&M and debuted in 2013. The brand recently debuted a couture-adjacent capsuled collection inspired by model Anna Cleveland in fall 2024. The collection featured pieces that nod to ‘50s glam with the time period’s generous volumes and rich textures.
“We envisioned this collection for the spirited freethinker — a stylistic adventuress like Anna, whose wardrobe is a creativity-fueled collage of color, print and texture,” said & Other Stories’ atelier designer Frida Billegren of the capsule.
“For this season, I really wanted to embrace my own passion for the haute couture heritage and the craftsmanship within design to create a collection that’s a little bit new for [the brand, compared to] what you’ve seen before….I wanted to look back in time to vintage classics and focused a lot around the ’50s and ‘60s. I think they were such chic and lovely eras to look at,” Billegren said.
This isn’t the first time Queen Letizia has styled a look courtesy of & Other Stories. She notably owns a black leather dress from the brand which she keeps in her royal wardrobe. She’s worn the dress for events in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
