Facebook has to be the number one place for sharing birth news. Every other day there’s a warm and fuzzy post announcing the arrival of a new bubba, often accompanied by a grainy picture of said shiny newborn in the arms of a beaming parent. But one new dad decided to go one better than a bog standard birth notice by live streaming the actual birth to the social media site. Well it was only a matter of time.

Californian Comedian, Fakamalo Kihe Eiki had been busy chronicling his partner’s entire birthing process (with permission we hope?)—from getting settled in the hospital room to experiencing contractions during the 19 hour labour—in a series of Facebook Live videos posted between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

In the final 45 minute segment, captioned “Let’s try pushing baby out,” Eiki and his partner happily welcome their little one into the world.

“Baby’s out, baby’s out!” Eiki is heard exclaiming behind the camera. “I’m so happy right now.”

Both mother and baby seem to be doing well, and Eiki has since posted a follow-up message on the Facebook post thanking the almost 50K viewers for sharing the special moment with them: “Thanks guys for enjoying the gift of life with me…lol come celebrate next weekend bbq if in area…”

Robbie Williams is going to have to go some to beat this. The pop star famously made a video diary and live-tweeted his wife, Ayda Field’s labour as she gave birth to their second child.
