The Princess of Wales looked stylish in red as she wrapped up to watch the rugby in the rain on Saturday.

Kate, 40, cheered on England as they played Papua New Guinea in the Rugby League World Cup quarter-final in Wigan.

The royal mother-of-three kept cosy in a buttoned-up, double-breasted coat by Alexander McQueen that she has worn on a number of previous occasions.

In October 2020, Kate wore the coat for a visit to the 'Hold Still' exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and, two months later, on a trip to Cardiff with Prince William.

For its latest outing, the princess paired the statement piece with a burgundy red turtleneck and a pair of brown, suede-look heeled boots.

She also wore a pair of pearl earrings, and a red poppy on her lapel ahead of Remembrance Sunday next weekend.

Due to the drizzle, Kate kept dry beneath a black umbrella while greeting rugby players on the pitch.

Her attendance at the event came after she was made patron of the Rugby Football League and the Rugby Football Union earlier this year.

The princess took over the role from Prince Harry, after he stepped back as a full-time working member of the royal family in 2020.

In a post on Instagram in February, she revealed she was "thrilled" to be supporting the two sporting organisations.

Captioning a video in which she holds a rugby ball, the royal wrote: "I look forward to working with them across all levels of the games, and to cheering England on in what promises to be an exciting year for both sports!"

On Thursday, Kate wore a camel coat along with £5 earrings from Accessorize for a trip to Scarborough.
