Princess Kate Delivers a Lesson in Outfit Repeating With Her Favorite Blue Coat Dress

Princess Kate is no stranger to outfit repeating. The royal is known to recycle tried-and-true wardrobe staples for various public engagements throughout the year. For her latest outing, she just updated one of her most memorable outfits by including a touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Princess of Wales joined husband Prince William and her in-laws, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, for Scotland’s National Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication, which marks the Scottish coronation of the monarch.

For the landmark occasion, Kate re-wore a cobalt-blue coat dress by Catherine Walker, which she’s previously been seen in at least twice: during this year’s Easter service at St. George’s Chapel, and the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. This time, the royal paired the electric-blue piece with a shiny Philip Treacy hat, bright blue pumps, and a scalloped blue clutch.

Kate’s other accessories paid homage to Queen Elizabeth, who passed away at 96 years old last September. The princess wore the late monarch’s four-strand pearl choker necklace with a glittering diamond clasp at the center. (She wore the same necklace for the queen’s state funeral last year.)

In addition to Queen Elizabeth’s jewels, Kate wore pearl drop earrings and a pearl bracelet that once belonged to William’s mother, Princess Diana.

William attended the service dressed in his Royal Air Force No. 1 uniform, his “Lesser George” sash badge, and a ceremonial cloak. On his uniform, he displayed medals for the Golden, Diamond, and Platinum jubilees and the coronation. He topped off the outfit with his Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle Mantle and Collar, which reflects the royal’s position in Scotland’s highest order of chivalry.
