Princess Anne awards honorary doctorate in Literature to The Queen
The Queen received a very special honour from a familiar face this week, when she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of London's chancellor.
Queen Camilla's honorary doctorate was in Literature, which she received in recognition of her work in the field over many years, and it was actually her sister in law, The Princess Royal, who presented it to her.
The Royal Family shared photographs of the evening on their official social media accounts and, in a caption, explained that it had been, "a special evening for Her Majesty The Queen who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Literature by the University of London Chancellor, The Princess Royal."
Explaining some of the work The Queen has done to be recognised with her doctorate in Literature from the university, the caption also explains that, "The Doctorate was presented to The Queen, an avid reader, in recognition of her promotion of literacy and literature over many years."
It went onto add that Queen Camilla is also, "Patron of several organisations which support and promote literacy, and has visited many schools, libraries, workplaces and prisons to see the work of literacy schemes in action."
It's been a busy week for The Princess Royal, who was also visiting Suffolk to open a new bridge, the Gull Wing Bridge, which is now the largest rolling bascule bridge in the world.
The Royal Family explained that "The Gull Wing Bridge was named after the wings of a gull by three young people, Eva, Jack and Hayden, in a school competition."
