Prince William praises his 'most incredible wife' on her birthday
The Prince of Wales has penned a moving message to his "most incredible wife" in honour of her birthday today (9 January).
The Princess of Wales turns 43 today and her husband, Prince William, took to social media to share a new portrait in honour of her birthday.
In the black and white photograph, Kate looks relaxed and happy, smiling into the distance with her hands in her jeans pockets, wearing a white blouse and checked scarf.
In a caption alongside the image on the couple's official instagram addressing Kate, Prince William said that, "the strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable."
He said the he and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were "so proud of you."
In March 2024, Kate announced in a video message that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy as it was found cancer had been present following an abdominal surgery. The Princess of Wales therefore stepped back from public duties while she was undergoing and recovering from treatment, but was able to return to some public events later in the year, including to host her annual Together at Christmas Carol Service.
Prince William ended the heartfelt message by saying, "Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you."
The King and Queen also wishes Kate their best on her birthday, sharing a smiling photograph of her accepting bunches of flowers. "Happy birthday to the Princess of Wales 🎂" reads a caption over the image which was shared to the Royal Family's official social media accounts.
