Prince Harry won't meet King Charles during UK visit but 'hopes to see him soon'
Prince Harry will not be visiting King Charles during his trip to the UK, a spokesperson for Harry has confirmed.
The spokesperson put it down to a clash in diaries, and the busy schedule King Charles has to attend to, since he returned to Royal duties after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
"It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme," said the statement from Harry's team.
"The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."
The Duke of Sussex arrived in England today, Tuesday, 7 May, following a solo journey from California, with wife Meghan Markle remaining in California.
Harry is scheduled to attend an event on 8 May at St Paul's Cathedral to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games. He founded the games back in 2014.
ITV's royal editor Chris Ship confirmed his arrival at 1pm on Tuesday, saying: "Prince Harry is in the UK. He landed here ahead of his St Paul’s Cathedral service tomorrow to mark 10 years of the @WeAreInvictus which he founded in 2014. He’s doing some Invictus related events today."
Chris confirmed Harry had travelled alone, with Meghan not planning to join him in the UK. She will reunite with her husband later in the week for a trip to Nigeria.
"Prince Harry travelled to the UK alone - without Meghan or the children Archie and Lilibet. Meghan will not accompany Harry to the St Paul’s Cathedral in London tomorrow. But she will be with Harry for their visit to Nigeria later this week," he added.
After much speculation, it was confirmed on 29 April that Harry's wife, Meghan, would not be joining him on his trip to the UK, where they lived before ditching Royal life and moving to America.
Again, it was Royal correspondent Chris Ship who confirmed the news on X, writing: "n his post, he wrote: "Additional confirmation this morning that Meghan will not be joining Harry for the Invictus Anniversary service at @StPaulsLondon in London. But the Duchess of Sussex will join the Duke for an Invictus-inspired visit to Nigeria immediately after Harry leaves the UK."
It's Harry's first visit to the UK since his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton shared the news that she is undergoing cancer treatment, following her surgery in January.
