39 times Prince George stole our hearts as he turns eight

Prince George turns eight on Thursday, the first royal birthday since the lifting of most coronavirus restrictions in the UK.

The young prince might be able to celebrate his special day with friends, or could have chosen to spend it with his family at their home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, where they often go for weekends and school holidays.

Royal fans have been treated to lots of pictures of George in the last couple of weeks, as he attended two football matches with his parents during England's best ever Euros run.

He looked smart in a suit and tie in the stands at Wembley for the round of 16 match against Germany and then again for the final against Italy.

But he wore the feelings of the whole nation on his face as Italy beat England on penalties and he stared forlornly onto the pitch.

Prince George, whose full name is George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, was born at 4.24pm on 22 July, 2013, in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington, London.

He was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in The Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace in October 2013. He wore a handmade replica of the traditional christening robe worn by royals for generations.

He currently attends Thomas's in Battersea, as does his younger sister Princess Charlotte.

His father, William, and his uncle, Harry, were both sent to boarding school at the age of eight, but Thomas's goes up to the age of 13, so William and Kate have the option of keeping him living at home.

They live most of the time at Kensington Palace. Now that he is a big brother to two siblings and in school, George is not taken on engagements or tours with his parents as frequently as in his younger years.
