Prince Edward's cake cutting has the internet in hysterics
Prince Edward has prompted amusement on Twitter for his unusual cake cutting technique.
The Earl of Wessex, 55, who is the youngest of the Queen’s four children, attended an engagement at an event for members of the local community and volunteers at Lakeland Community Care Centre, to celebrate the institution’s 25th anniversary.
He was asked to cut a cake in order to honour the occasion, a moment chronicled in a video shared from Buckingham Palace’s official Twitter account, to its 4.1 million followers.
But the royal’s knife skills are what attracted the most attention: Edward plunges a bread knife into the middle of the cake before slicing it with small, chopping motions towards the outside edge.
Later, it was a happy moment for members of the local community and volunteers at Lakeland Community Care Centre, as The Earl of Wessex joined them in celebrating their 25th anniversary! 🍰 #RoyalVisitNI pic.twitter.com/owfNnbabU2

While the royal family typically put on a polished show for the general public, this isn’t the first time a high-profile moment has gone less than smoothly.
There was the time the Duchess of Cambridge got her heel caught in a metal grate during a parade in 2013.
The same year, the Duchess of Cornwall accidentally dribbled ice cream while meeting Dame Judi Dench during a visit to the Isle of Wight, prompting the latter to offer her a tissue.
