Prince Archie 'desperate' to visit UK with dad but Meghan and Harry 'don't want to encourage it'
Adorable youngster Prince Archie is reportedly itching to hop on a plane to the UK with his dad, Prince Harry, after an expert spilled that he "loves the idea that his grandad lives in a castle". But there are worries that letting him get too enchanted with his birthplace might make it a "longed-for fantasy" for the four year old, especially since Harry and Meghan Markle continue establishing their new life away from the British Royal family.
Meghan in particular is said to feel apprehensive over the possibility of Archie growing up yearning for his British roots and blaming his parents for keeping him away from his extended family, including his young cousins. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex famously stepped down from their senior Royal roles in 2020 and moved stateside along with their young son, where they later welcomed their daughter, Princess Lilibet just one year later in 2021.
Living in Montecito's posh area within their stunning £11m mansion, Harry and Meghan have been raising their little ones away from the royal spotlight, however, whispers do claim that Meghan is growing concerned over Archie's increasing interest in his Royal heritage, reports the Mirror.
Royal expert and author Tom Quinn told the publication: "Archie loves the idea that his grandad lives in a castle and Meghan was worried that a magnificent shepherd's hut or similar extravagant present will only increase Archie's growing interest in his royal connections. She doesn't want Britain to become a longed-for fantasy for her son so she had been pushing Harry to insist that his father gets Archie a simple present."
However, despite their reluctance to allow Archie to connect with his royal roots, his grandfather Charles is "desperate" to show that he cares and wants to be an "indulgent grandparent" that can dote upon his grandkids. According to Tom this is partly because he "wants to makeup for what he sees as his neglect of his own sons" in their youth."
The King last saw Archie back in 2022, and many of the tot's beloved books are about kings, princesses and castles, making his grandfather's spacious abode quite the talking point in the Sussex house.
Tom added: "He is apparently desperate to come to the UK with his father, but Meghan and Harry don't want to encourage this."
This comes after the Sussexes' recent three-day whirlwind tour of Nigeria. During their trip to the West African country, Meghan, who has Nigerian roots, was honoured as an Ada Mazi, a title of respect translating to "daughter of an aristocrat", bestowed by the Ancient Arochukwu Kingdom.
Three Kings, His Eminence Engr Eberechukwu Oji, Eze Aro of Ancient Arochukwu Kingdom, Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha and Great Olu Of Warri Kingdom, all took part in the special ceremony.
