Prime Big Deals Day: When is the Amazon sales event in October 2023?
It's happening... again! Amazon has confirmed that it will be hosting yet another sales event this year and it's going live in October.
An international affair, the two-day sales extravaganza — dubbed Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day — will give shoppers a chance to start their festive shopping early and stock up on seasonal essentials. Not to mention nab some money-saving deals.
The sale is set to include discounts from best-selling brands like Bose, Shark, Oral B and Fitbit, and will be available exclusively to Prime members (sign up here if you haven't already).
What is Prime Big Deals Day?
Just like Amazon Prime Day, it's a two-day sales event where the e-tailer slashes the price of some its best-sellers. Only this time, Amazon is promising some of the "lowest prices this year so far".
When is Prime Big Deals Day?
Amazon has confirmed that October's Prime Day will take place over two days. The first discounts launch at 00.01 on Tuesday 10 October, with offers running until 23.59 on Wednesday 11 October.
Earlier this year, Amazon's main sales event took place on Tuesday 11 July and Wednesday 12 July.
How does Prime Big Deals Day work?
To get access to the offers in Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day, you need to be an Amazon Prime member. If you're yet to register, you can sign up for Amazon Prime's free 30-day trial. Once the free trial runs out, it’s £8.99 a month, or a yearly subscription is £95.
There are typically two types of deals on offer:
Lightning deals — deals which are activated at a specific time and last until the stock of that particular product runs out completely.
24/48 hour deals — deals that last for a full day or two, or until stock sells out.
How can I find the best deals?
Alerts via the Amazon app
One of the easiest ways to keep in the loop with deals is by setting up notifications. To do this, you need to head to the "Deal Alerts" section in the app (Your Account > Message Centre > Deal Alerts). From there, you can make your own alerts, as well as view any of Today's Deals. When the deal starts, your smartphone will get a notification.
Carefully read reviews
It might sound obvious but if you want a real idea of how a product works, what the quality is like, and whether it lives up to expectation, then giving the reviews a read before purchasing is always a good idea.
Create a wish-list
Do your research beforehand and make a list of the items you want the most. This way, you're less likely to buy impulsively (although, sometimes it can't be helped if there's a fantastic offer).
