If you’ve watched the latest series of Netflix's The Crown, then you will already be well-versed on the Royal Tour of Australia that Princess Diana and Prince Charles embarked on in 1985 with baby Prince William in tow.

But, two years later, the couple – who had then been married for four years – made the journey again to celebrate the state of Victoria’s 150th anniversary.

During their two-week tour, Prince Charles and Princess Diana attended a charity ball and a series of concerts, and travelled to areas of the state that had been affected by a recent bushfire.

However, there is one moment captured on film that hadn’t come to light until now. On 28 October, the Royal couple visited the Alcoa Aluminium Smelter Project, where they had to wear hard hats to walk around the centre.

In the 19-second clip from the day, Princess Diana can be seen laughing hysterically as her husband puts on the hat – with ‘HRH Prince of Wales’ written across the front.

Walking a few steps behind him, Diana tries her best to stifle her giggling by covering her mouth with her hand – but her amusement at his appearance doesn’t go unnoticed by Charles.

As he greets workers at the site, Charles quips: “Do your wives always laugh at you when you’ve got your hat on?”

The surfacing of the heartwarming moment was quick to attract comments from Royal fans.

“I remember Harry saying in a documentary, how his mother had the most amazing laugh. She surely does!” wrote one, while another added: “I love the way she laughed.”
