When lockdown was first announced, there was one place in particular that those on social media seemed to lament the loss of: Pret a Manger.

The sandwich chain done good is a staple for many commuters and a day of work just seems wrong when it doesn’t start with a flat white and a croissant from the international chain.

“Want anything from Pret?” is probably said more times in offices up and down the UK then any other phrase and so it stands to reason that, though we miss many things about pre-lockdown life, the lack of the Big P in our lives hits one of the hardest.

However, there is light on the horizon, because you’ll soon be able to make one at home as the high street retailer has announced it will sell its ground coffee and coffee beans online.

Pret A Manger will launch its first ever retail range on May 18 and it will be available to buy exclusively on Amazon (you can pre-order now).

The range includes Pret’s Organic Espresso Beans that are used in Pret’s signature espresso blend. The blend is so popular it sells 80 million cups of coffee in the UK every year.

The news comes as Pret has announced it is re-opening a further 70 branches across the UK from today, adding to the 30 already open.

Most of these stores are opening in London, so lucky Londoner’s will get first dibs on fresh Pret coffee, and the stores will only be open for takeaway and delivery by third-party partners.

Pret’s UK MD Clare Clough says: “We are extremely proud of our organic coffee, which is carefully sourced from some of the finest coffee growing regions in the world. We also know how much customers are missing it from their daily lives at the moment, so we’re delighted to be launching our first retail range with Amazon. This marks the first time that our customers can make their favourite Pret coffee at home.”

So, if you can’t wait for your caffeine fix, then here are the three coffee varieties you’ll be able to get your hands on very, very soon.
