The Little Mix alum and musician boyfriend Zion Foster addressed their Instagram followers in a vulnerable video on Wednesday, March 5, where she revealed that while they're "excited" and "can't believe" they're expecting identical twins, there are related "complications" with the pregnancy.
Nelson, 33, went on to explain that the twins are monochorionic, diamniotic (MCDA), which is when each baby has its own amniotic sac, but they share a single placenta, per Columbia University.
Speaking to the potential for "lots of complications" in this type of pregnancy, the singer said in their video that "one baby might take all the nutrients" from the single placenta, or "the other might, which — really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying."
"And at the moment, I am currently pre-stage TTTS, which is twin-to-twin transfusion, and I'm being monitored very closely; have to go be scanned twice a week," she continued. "The common situation that we're in at the moment is that every time I've gone, it's got a little bit worse."

In the meantime, Nelson and Foster "are just hoping and praying for the best."
"We feel so blessed that we've been given twins," she said, tearing up. "I'm just really sad that unfortunately, it [can] come with these complications, which we had no idea about. We honestly had no clue that this kind of thing [can happen] when you have twins."

Given the parents-to-be's situation, "We just really wanna raise awareness about this because there's so many people that don't know about this," Nelson said.
"So we feel it's really important to share our journey with you guys and let [you] know what's happening," she added. "But like I said, we are just hoping for the best, and we're really fortunate that I am lucky enough to be scanned twice a week and we get to check on the babies."

Nelson announced her pregnancy in an Instagram post on Jan. 12, and hinted that she was expecting twins with fellow musician Foster.
In the instant-camera snap, the "Boyz" singer could be seen wearing a bump-revealing tank top as she stood next to Foster, who rested his hand on her belly. Nelson also posted the photo to her Instagram Stories, tacking on two additional baby-face emojis.
"She’s eating for 3 now 👶👶," the couple captioned their joint pregnancy announcement, which fans in the comments believed was their way of revealing they had twins on the way.
Nelson and Foster have been linked since January 2022 and dating on and off since then, according to the Daily Mail.
