Pregnant Glee star Lea Michele reveals baby's gender in sweet posts on 'the most beautiful day'
Pregnant Glee star Lea Michele has announced the gender of her unborn baby's gender in a sweet social media post to mark American Mother's Day. The 37 year old actress is currently expecting her second child with husband Zandy Reich, and she revealed on her Instagram account that her three year old son Ever was going to be joined by a little sister.
On Sunday, 12 May - which is Mother's Day in the US - she posted a a number of photos, including one of her with her own mum, and one of her carrying Ever: "The most beautiful Mother’s Day today, holding my son who made me a mama…and carrying my daughter."
Her friends and fans were quick to congratulate the star, with one writing: "Happy Mother’s Day beautiful Lea! I know how much you love being a mom to Ever and now carrying your daughter must make this even more of a special day! I’m sending you so much love!" and another adding: "Oh it’s a little girl, my heart is so happy for you."
The actress, who played Rachel Berry in Glee, announced in March that she was pregnant again, saying she, Zandy and Ever were all "overjoyed" at the news. The couple tied the knot in 2019 and in a later interview with Drew Barrymore on her talkshow, the Broadway actress revealed motherhood had changed her outlook on life.
"It was all about my career. I've been so career-focused my entire life, I think to a fault," she said on The Drew Barrymore Show. "I think I have this sense of drive that created a lot of blind spots for me in my life."
In 2022 Lea took on the role of Fanny Brice in the Broadway musical Funny Girl, and won over critics and audiences with her portrayal of the American comedian, model and singer. She was forced to take time out from the show in March last year when her son was rushed to hospital with a "scary health issue".
Later, the star told Interview Magazine: "“I haven’t done a show in 15 years. I’m figuring out how to be a good leader. I’m figuring out how to be a good mom. I’m figuring out how to be a good wife, a good daughter, a good friend. I’m getting so much gratification out of my relationships right now because I think everything’s falling so nicely into place and I’m so happy to be back home in New York.”
