Precious star Gabourey Sidibe, 41, welcomes twins and reveals special meaning behind names
Gabourey Sidibe and her hubby Brandon Frankel have just welcomed their adorable twins, Cooper and Maya.
The 41 year old Precious star shared some lovely family snaps that were first seen on the Shade Room. The little ones arrived in early April and the thrilled new mum revealed the sweet stories behind their names.
“Brandon always wanted to name a son Cooper, so we call him "Coop," and Maya was named shortly before our baby moon to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico,” Gabourey said. "Both twins have traditional West African middle names after members of my family,” she added.
“They're both incredibly strong and hilarious, even though they haven't really interacted with each other yet,” she continued. "Cooper will sometimes speak for Maya and let us know that she's about to spit up,” she explained.
“Maya loves it when we sing her name to her and has perfect comedic timing, while Cooper is a big fan of his sleep and pulls the funniest faces. They both love snuggling with mum and Dad,” she added.
The actress isn't the only celeb to join the twin mums club in recent years. TOWIE star Frankie Essex, as well as model Ashley Graham have also welcomed twins.
Gabourey's twins had their own plans about when they wanted to join the world. The new parents recalled how they went in for a routine check-up and were told the babies would be born later that day.
And now that they're getting used to life as a family of four, just like TOWIE's Amy Childs who also welcomed twins recently, the actress can't wait for all the little milestones to come.
“We're excited for outfits and getting them dressed up, for sing-alongs, trips and to explore, and raising them to be good people,” she shared.
Gabourey announced her pregnancy back in February at a BabyList event.
“I'm pregnant! We thought it was time to give our cats some responsibility so we're giving them each a baby to take care of!” Gabourey captioned her Instagram post. “Double the babies, double the cats, double the fun!! Twin Delivery coming soon! Twinty Twinty Four!!”
She also revealed on Live With Kelly and Ryan that she'd been married to Brandon for over a year, as of early December 2022.
“Surprise! I can finally call her my wife publicly! Since @gabby3shabby finally spilled the beans today on Live with Kelly and Ryan - we've been married since March '21!” Brandon posted on his Instagram page.
In 2018, the award-winner looked nearly unrecognisable as she showed off her jaw-dropping weight loss.
