Poo ice cream is the latest Tokyo food trend we might have to skip

Just when you thought we’d left bizarre food trends designed in the name of Instagram likes in 2018, Tokyo has introduced the world to poo-shaped ice cream.

Yes, the Sweet XO Good Grief cafe in Harajuku is selling Unchi-kun Soft Serve – merely a more polite way of saying poop.

But before you throw away your afternoon snack, it’s important to note that the ice cream is simply designed to look like an artistic swirl of faecal matter and actually tastes of heavenly chocolate.

For added social media points, customers can even customise their dessert with edible accessories from silver crowns to marshmallow bunny ears.

But in a more questionable aesthetic choice, the ice cream – which costs approximately £4.60 – is served in a faux miniature toilet.

Though it’s not the only hotspot to offer dishes in a loo, as a Taiwan-based restaurant aptly-named Modern Toilet also serves its meals in miniature toilets.

If that isn’t enough to see crowds of Insta-fanatics queueing outside, guests are also required to sit on toilets while dining. Now, that’s certainly a whole new take on the ‘candid’ blogger snap…

We don’t know about you but suddenly last year’s superfood lattes and charcoal ice cream cones don’t seem so bad after all…
