Like any bride-to-be, when Laura got engaged she couldn’t wait to pore over frothy wedding dresses. But as a size 26 she quickly realised that bridal fashion for curvy girls is pretty non-existant.

So the fashion blogger from Sheffield decided to take it upon herself to offer inspiration to other plus-sized brides by setting up a photo series encouraging other bigger brides to share pictures of their big day.

“When I got engaged in February 2015 the first thing I did was Google ‘plus bride’ ‘fat bride’ ‘plus wedding dress’ to see what was available to the plus/fat bride,” she wrote.

“Mostly what came up was shop photos of thin models in wedding dresses that were available up to a size 20UK. Even with a bit more searching I was not seeing what I had hoped for.”

And so began her online project “105 Fat/Plus Bride/Groom Photos.” After sending out a call-out on social media, she was inundated with couples from all over the world. And the results are amazingly beautiful.

“My motivation was to show other plus/fat brides and grooms that there were choices available to them, and that other couples looked beautiful on their wedding day and so could they,” she told Femail.

“It is not news that plus/fat people get married, so why was it so hard to find photos of them? I wanted to make it an easy find for people looking for inspiration and support.”

It’s not the first time the 35-year-old has flown the flag for the body positive. Her blog Lolly Likes Fatshion regularly celebrates the joy of plus sized fashion and she’s also created a buzz with her celebratory #effyourhealthstandards hashtag on Twitter.

Since November she’s been running ‘Wedding Wednesday’ on her blog, where plus-size couples share their how-we-met stories alongside details about where they bought their wedding outfits, because, as one bride put it, they’re not readily catered for: “I love the dress I got, but I definitely would say I settled because I knew it would be a long process to find my ‘dream’ dress.”

Laura believes the photo series is an important way of spreading 'positive visibility’. She said: 'It needs to be seen that fat people are just like smaller people. We love, get married, have sex, have families.

'We are beautiful and have the same right to a perfect day as anyone else. Having a full range of wedding attire available to plus/fat people should not be an issue but it is.’

And with all that fashspiration, Laura’s own wedding is sure to be a super stylish affair.
