Pinterest and Faire Forecast Trends for 2025

As 2025 hits its stride, predictions for the hottest trends of the year are in. Pinterest and Faire have each released their latest reports looking at what color palettes and culture-driven trends consumers will be driven toward.

In conjunction with the annual “Pinterest Predicts” trend report released in January, the social media platform has recently released its “2025 Pinterest Palette” report, sourced from internal Pinterest data from September 2022 to August 2024. To set the tones for the year ahead, Pinterest has identified five custom colors that will be all the rage — Cherry Red, Butter Yellow, Aura Indigo, Dill Green and Alpine Oat.

Taking direct inspiration from the “Cherry Coded” forecast trend and an uptick of 235 percent searches on Pinterest for “dark cherry red” and 325 percent for “cherry vibe,” the infusion of cherries into makeup and mood boards is set to soar this year.

The pastel yellow hue of Butter Yellow takes inspiration from multiple Pinterest aesthetic trends: “Dolled Up,” “Fisherman Aesthetic” and “Surreal Soirees.” And the term “butter yellow nails” has seen an eye-watering 1,825 percent search increase.

With otherworldly and cosmic beauty looks slated to be in vogue, the edgy lilac hue of Aura Indigo pulls inspiration from “Sea Witchery” and “Aura Beauty.” Think siren makeup, wet wavy hair and mercurial mermaid manicures when users are searching “purple core” (120 percent) and “purple lavender aesthetic” (175 percent).

With pickles all the rage in food with the “Pickle Fix” trends it’s no wonder the tangy green color has translated over to social media users searching for “green kitchen designs” (up 155 percent). And moreover, with “Terra Futura” foretelling more investment in sustainable fashion, self-sufficient gardens and community spaces for eco-living, Pinterest searches for “solar punk fashion” is up 115 percent and an increase in “chaos gardening” searches by 300 percent.

The newest neutral Alpine Oat takes cues from “Peak Travel” and “Moho Boho” trends, bringing layered textures to life. Mountainous après ski outfits are all the latest fashion fixation with a 255 percent increase in Pinterest searches for “skiing fits” and “boho outfits” seeing an increase in searches by 755 percent and a 145 percent increase in “neutral outfits women” searches.

“This year, the names of our 2025 Palette hues are directly inspired by culture-forward trends within our annual Pinterest Predicts trend report we released last month,” said Xanthe Wells, vice president of global creative at Pinterest. “For example, Cherry Red stems from our ‘Cherry Coded’ trend, which we predict will dominate the home and fashion categories this year.

The latest 2025 Faire Forecast has determined that the latest consumer-driven trends for this year are “Intentional Detours”, “Victorian Noir,” “Neutral Good” and “Everyday Hopecore.”

To seek adventure on the road less traveled, consumers will be turning to “Intentional Detours” — by embracing spontaneity and allowing the journey to come as it may.

With nostalgia on the rise, with searches for “film,” “polaroid” and “tradition,” Faire data has shown a 300 percent rise in “cowboy hats” since quarter two of 2024; no doubt also tied to the rise in country music from Beyoncé’s latest album. Other searches to enhance an unwinding journey include “playing cards” (247 percent since November 2023), “route 66” doubling since early 2024 and “polaroid” doubled in quarter three of 2024.

Evoking an era filled with old-world elegance and rich textures comes a “Victorian Noir” renaissance. With personal style being redefined in the home space, unique pieces that focus on vintage, classical, elaborate or maximalist style are at the forefront in the design sector.

The trend is inspired by European parlors and their masterful mix of antiques. The aesthetic evokes themes of decadence, romance and the supernatural. Searches for “burgundy” are up 240 percent since 2022 and “velvet” is up 71 percent since October 2023.

Natural materials and their quality, craftsmanship and luxurious connotations, the interiors trend of “Neutral Goods” evokes the raw spirit of the outdoors and earthy tones such as leather and natural woods. Emphasizing handmade one-of-a-kind pieces over mass production to create a sense of comfort and emotional tranquility, to be one with nature.

With retailers focusing on handmade and eco-friendly products, searches for “wicker” were up 75 percent since October 2023. Other major searches that grew from the second to third quarters of 2024 include “rattan” and “woven.”

And with wholesome content and a desire for hope at an all-time high, the trend of “Everyday Hopecore” is an opportunity for consumers to find the small joys in life and capture the same carefree optimism of their youth.

From quarter two to quarter four in 2024, “purse charm” searches skyrocketed 500 percent, searches for “ballet flats” have doubled in 2024 and “bows” were up 166 percent since October 2023.

“It can feel like there’s a revolving door of trends happening in retail and our customers tell us that it sometimes feels impossible to keep up,” said Lauren Cooks Levitan, president of Faire. “Faire takes pride in helping them stay ahead by providing a clear sense of what’s coming with our forecast. By combining a deep market understanding of independent retailers with comprehensive data across our platform, we’ve identified four key trends designed to inspire retailers to stock their shops with confidence.”
