Piers Morgan criticises Meghan Markle's Vogue collaboration

Piers Morgan has criticised the Duchess of Sussex for guest editing the September issue of British Vogue, saying: “She constantly bleats about privacy but also wants to edit magazines to promote herself and tell us how to lead our lives.”

The Good Morning Britain presenter launched another scathing attack on Meghan in his latest column for Mail Online, accusing her of double standards.

“I’m sure the one thing we all need most in the world right now is a fabulously rich and entitled Princess lecturing us on privilege from her servant-laden royal quarters,” he wrote.

Mr Morgan also said “promoting Brand Meghan to America is more important to her than promoting Brand Britain,” because only five of the 15 inspirational women Meghan chose for the cover were British.

But even that wasn’t good enough for him.

Piers suggested that body positivity advocate and actor Jameela Jamil wasn’t a suitable choice because of derogatory comments she’d made about women in the past in her Company magazine column.

Although he seemed more irked because she’d once called him a ‘sh*t stain’ on Twitter.

Jameela hit back at his criticism on Twitter, saying: “My PINNED tweet is all of the mistakes I made, owning up to being problematic when I was young. I have nothing to hide. You are old, and still a problematic slut-shaming, fat-shaming, misogynist, irrelevant sh*t stain, smeared across our country.”

Mr Morgan finished his rant by giving out unsolicited advice to Meghan: “Take a long hard look in the mirror you stuck on your Vogue cover, and ask yourself one question: ‘Do I want to be a royal or a virtue-signalling political activist celebrity?’ She can’t be both.”

Fans rushed to the duchess’ defence on social media, pointing out that she isn’t the first royal guest editor.

The Duchess of Cambridge guest edited Huffington Post UK for a day in 2016, while Prince Harry turned his hand to it at BBC Radio 4’s Today programme in 2017. Prince Charles has also guest edited Country Life twice.
