It's pretty standard to own a can of WD-40 at home.

Not only does it lubricate moving parts such as hinges, wheels, rollers and chains, it can protect against rust on your garden tools. It even loosens rusted or stuck parts, as well as maintains power tools by lubricating.

Now you know just how useful a tin can be, have you ever wondered what the product really stands for? It seems like some people are "today years old" after making the mind-blowing discovery following a TikTok post.

In a post with his 117,000 followers, user @enterviewteev revealed he only just learned the meaning recently. He said: "I bet over 90% of my followers had no idea." So do you know what it means?

In his clip, he added: "Please don't come in the comment section for this video and act like you already knew this. I'll be doing videos. A lot of y'all be acting like some of the videos I'm doing be common knowledge when all actually you guys are going on Google looking the info up and they come back to the comment section like it's common knowledge like you something you already knew.

"And for this video I know a lot of you didn't know about this. WD-40. The WD and WD-40 stands for water dispersal. Who knew that the WD and WD-40 stood for water dispersal? Nobody even thinks about those academics when they using WD40."

He then told fans he just found out as he added: "I never even, never ever thought about WD-40. What does WD stand for? We don't think about those things. So do not comment in comments and act like you've been doing that.

"Some people might have known. Like if you are mechanic or something you might have known. But don't come here as a hairdresser say you already knew what WD40 was, or a cleric or assistant or something like saying you already knew what this would stand for.

"The WD and WD-40 stands for water dispersal. Appreciate y'all. Have a good day. Salute." It seems many only just found out after the post garnered dozens of likes and comments. One wrote: "Didn't know that all these years, never even thought about it."

Another said: "Can't say I knew that!" While a third posted: "Wow never knew that." Then someone else commented: "Use it a lot, didn't know that. Taught me something." But another TikTok user said they knew at the age of 15.
