People Have Just Discovered That Matthew Perry's Actual Dad Was In Friends
Over the years Friends featured lots of cameos from major celebrities, from Brad Pitt to Reese Witherspoon and of course - the most important of all - Danny Devito as a stripper named Officer Goodbody in The One Where the Stripper Cries. Iconic. But one cameo that somehow managed to pass us by was one from Matthew Perry's actual real-life dad, John Bennett Perry.
He appears in season 4 episode 18, The One with Rachel's New Dress, in which Rachel goes on a date with Joshua which she is expecting to be the first night they sleep together. After the date they return to Joshua's parent's lavish house, under the impression that they're on holiday. However, after Rachel does the old slips-into-something-a-bit-more-comfortable Joshua's parents return to find a scantily dressed Rachel sitting on the sofa in their living room. So far, so awkward.
Now, fans have spotted that the man who plays Joshua's dad is actually Matthew Perry's real-life dad, John Bennett Perry. Perry, who incidentally turned 80 this month, and has had a long and successful career in TV and film, including Veronica Mars, Independence Day and George of the Jungle.
Frankly, we can't believe we missed it. They're practically twins.
Recently, Perry revealed the airdate for the long-awaited Friends reunion, telling fans on Twitter that it's scheduled to drop at the beginning of March. We can't wait.
