Patrick Grant is perhaps best known as a judge on The Great British Sewing Bee, and he has now shared his knowledge and passion for tailoring and craftsmanship in a brand new book.

Titled The Savile Row Suit: The Art of Hand Tailoring on Savile Row, Grant's book takes readers through each step of the intricate tailoring process and shares the rich history of London's most famous suiting street.

In a post on Instagram, Grant described this latest project as "an awful lot of hard work". Speaking about the contents, he said: "It is a little bit of a personal reflection on my own story in and around Savill Row. It's a story about the history of how bespoke tailoring evolved, it's the story of how all these amazing cloth makers also evolved."

With pages of detailed illustrations, the book highlights how each piece of a suit is made, from measurements and fit to the fabric selection. "We have detailed every step involved in making a pair of trousers from start to finish... hundreds and hundreds of incredibly detailed diagrams going though every step," Grant said on Instagram. As well as guides to trousers, jackets and waistcoats, the team at Emma Willis on Jermyn Street contributed to a section on the craft of shirt making.

The Savile Row Suit: The Art of Hand Tailoring on Savile Row is available now - and it's not the only book Grant is releasing this year. Less: Stop Buying So Much Rubbish: How Having Fewer, Better Things Can Make Us Happier will explore over consumption and the importance of quality in the world of fashion. It is due to be launched on 9 May, so not too long to wait.
