Pamela Anderson wants Kim Kardashian to stop wearing fur.
In an open letter posted to her website, the 50-year old star and animal rights activist, condemned Kardashian for wearing fur, and begged her to stop.
“Dear Kim, It was lovely seeing you at New York Fashion Week,” she wrote. “I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know you over the years, and I can tell you’re a good person with a big, beautiful heart.”
“I’m writing to ask you to extend your compassion to real fashion victims — the animals who are violently killed in the fur trade — by swearing off fur this winter,” she continued.
Anderson said that she thinks Kardashian would be “horrified” to learn about the “beyond cruel” treatments at fur farms. She also noted that the fashion industry is changing, with major models like Gisele Bundchen condemning fur and U.S. first lady Melania Trump promising not to wear it, “following in the footsteps of so many fashion icons and first ladies.”
“You know I know you, and you can be a hero for animals as well as a great example to all your beautiful followers by swearing off fur,” she said to end the letter. “Please do the right thing. You’d be praised all over the world.”
This isn’t the first time Anderson has vocalized her anti-fur stance — she’s been a longtime advocate and spokesperson for PETA, and earlier this month she slammed Canada Goose, urging them to make the switch to faux fur.
And it’s not the first time Kardashian has been slammed for favouring her fluffy fur jackets. In 2012, protesters threw flour on her while she was at a red carpet event, and this August, she was heckled by a man in New York City who called her a “fur hag” while she was shopping.
Just days after, she was dragged through the mud again for posting a photo of her four-year-old daughter North in what appeared to be a fur jacket.
