The benefits of an orgasm are tenfold: they relieve stress, can help alleviate pain and are even credited with stimulating your brain.

All of the above means that an orgasm during the working day could only be a good thing. Right?

Well, that’s exactly what the founder of London-based sex toy brand, Hot Octopuss, thinks.

Adam Lewis decided to take his company Stateside, opening up a vibrator salon for hardworking women to pop down to during their lunch breaks.

The two-day event, which has been credited as the world’s first orgasm pop-up shop, saw over 1000 women apply for some time in a vibrator booth.

First, women were given an orgasm masterclass with a sex therapist. Then, they were invited to try Hot Octopuss’ new Queen Bee vibrator.

Lewis was shocked at the huge turnout – especially since they had only allocated 40 places.

You may recognise his name from the world’s first male vibrator (also known as the ‘guybrator’) which he created in 2015. Last year, Hot Octopuss held a similar event for men, creating a GuyFi masturbation booth.

Lewis knew that marketing a sex toy to women required a much more “sophisticated approach.”

The vibrator pop-up was furnished to the nines with an Instagram-friendly message on the wall. It read: “It’s time we stopped avoiding the O word. Time we became more confident in ourselves. And time we embraced sexuality as a core part of wellbeing.”

“This isn’t about getting off, it’s about getting ahead. It’s not about sex life, it’s about quality of life. Your orgasm matters. Everyone needs to feel themselves. Everyone needs to feel Queen Bee.”

Lewis hoped that women in New York would seize the opportunity to take their sex lives (and orgasms) more seriously.

One Cosmopolitan writer was brave enough to attend the pop-up. Too worried by the loud noise of the Queen Bee vibrator, she admitted to taking a rather different approach: “Instead of masturbating alongside the full-length mirror, I sat on the bench and took a series of selfies with a vibrator, like the serious adult woman that I am.”
