Only 7% of Britons interested in listening to Prince Harry and Meghan's podcasts - YouGov poll
Watch: Prince Harry and Meghan to produce Spotify podcasts
Only 7% of Britons are interested in listening to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s podcasts on Spotify, according to a poll by YouGov.
Harry and Meghan announced they are setting up Archewell Audio earlier this week, the company through which they will produce podcasts exclusively for Spotify in a deal rumoured to be worth millions.
It comes soon after they confirmed a multi-year Netflix deal, which will see them produce documentaries, children’s programmes and scripted series.
But they may find the market in the UK for their podcasts is small, after a YouGov poll found limited interest.
YouGov polled more than 5,700 adults on 17 December and asked them “Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have announced that they have signed a multi-year deal with Spotify to host and produce exclusive podcasts. How interested are you, if at all, in listening to this?”

Of all the respondents, only 2% said they were very interested, and 5% were fairly interested in the podcasts.
But 77% of people said they were not interested at all.
Those in the youngest age category (18-24) offered Harry and Meghan the most support, with 3% of that group saying they were very interested and 13% were fairly interested.
Not a single person over the age of 65 said they were very interested and only 1% of respondents in that top age bracket said they were fairly interested.
Of the retired age group, 90% said they were not interested at all.
Harry and Meghan are also more likely to win over female Britons than male, as twice as many women said they would be very interested than men, at 2% to 1%.
Londoners are more interested than any other region. People in the North and Scotland are the least interested.
The couple had a similar response in the UK when they confirmed a deal with Netflix.
Of a poll of 2,700 British adults about how interested they were in watching the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s content, 64% said they were not interested at all.
The poll showed more women were very interested than men, at 4% to just 1% of male respondents.
It also revealed women were more likely to be ‘fairly interested’.
Harry and Meghan, who now live in California having stepped back from their roles as senior royals, are set to release a Christmas special podcast ahead of a full series in the new year.
They have not yet given dates for their Netflix content, but some of the programmes are reported to be underway.
Explaining their decision to start a podcast, Harry and Meghan said: “What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction.”
