One of the year's biggest films that 'critics hate but audiences love' now streaming
One of this year's biggest blockbusters that 'critics hate but audiences love' is now available to stream at home.
Red One was one of the most significant cinema releases for 2024, even though it didn't quite make a big a splash as star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson probably would have hoped.
However, now it is available to stream at home, just in time for Christmas viewing. While it was only available to see in cinemas upon its initial release in November, it is now available to stream on Amazon Prime from today (December 12).
The film also stars Marvel alum Chris Evans, alongside Academy award winner J.K. Simmons and Lucy Lieu. It comes from the same director of the recent Jumanji reboots and one of the writers of several Fast and Furious entries.

A movie created to be more than fit for the festive season, the story follows Santa Claus (Simmons), Code Name: RED ONE, who is kidnapped and the North Pole's Head of Security (Johnson) who is forced to team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.
While the film managed to bring in around $160 million at the box office, this was from a budget of between $200 - $250 million. Reception was also relatively mixed, although critics were much harsher than film fans, with one viewer claiming 'audiences love'.
That seems to be the case judging by its scores on website Rotten Tomatoes. While its rating from critic reviews sits at just 31%, its Popcornmeter, the score which is created from fan reviewers boasts an impressive 90%.
One fan said: "This is one of those movies that the critics hate and the audience enjoys because the audience knows how to have fun. I look at audience scores when I consider what films to watch.
"I enjoyed this. I thought it was fun and the characters were interesting. I loved the behind the scenes of the North Pole and seeing how Santa gets those deliveries done. Is it something I'd watch year after year? Probably not but I think it's worth the watch."
Another, also addressing the mediocre response the film received elsewhere added: "You know what it is is going in and how many twists can you put on a movie about Christmas spirit? It has the expected action, some comedy, and overall was much more fun than I expected. I gave it an eye roll going in, but came out happy I watched it! Just let go and have a little fun."
While a third commented: "I enjoyed that it wasn't your typical Santa Story during this time of year. Everyone should watch it and enjoy the nature of the messages!"
