'One Tree Hill' Reboot: Release Date, Spoilers, Cast, Trailer And Plot
Following a line of original TV shows that have returned to our screens decades later, (And Just Like That..., Gilmore Girls, A Year In The Life, Wednesday; the list goes on), it's now been confirmed that a One Tree Hill reboot is on the horizon. The coming-of-age drama is next up on the list of series to reprise its characters and plot lines, but of course, with updated storylines and some new cast members.
In a report by Deadline, it was announced that the CW drama will be making its way to Netflix for a sequel of the hit show. After the news broke out, Hilary Burton, who played Peyton Sawyer from seasons one to six, took to Instagram to share her excitement of its big return.
The post featured other original members of the cast including Bevin Prince and Danneel Ackles.

Who will produce the One Tree Hill sequel?
One Tree Hill's original creator and director of the show, Mark Schwahn, will not be coming back to direct the sequel. His career came to an abrupt end in 2018 after sexual harassment and manipulation allegations were made against him by several cast members, including Sophia Bush, Hilary Burton and other cast members, outlined in an open letter. The sequel will be written and executively produced by Becky Hartman Edwards, as well as Bush and Burton who will also make their debut as executive producers.
Who will make up the cast of the 'One Tree Hill' sequel?
It has been confirmed that Bush and Burton will definitely reprise their respective roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer. However, it is expected that much of the original cast will not return.
Chad Michael Murray who played the series' protagonist Lucas Scott, will not be returning, according to Deadline's report. Bethany Joy Galeotti and James Lafferty who played Haley James Scott (Lenz) and Nathan Scott have not yet commented on whether they will come back or not. Danneel Ackles who played Rachel Scott is currently 'in talks' regarding her return.
While the following actors have not been confirmed to return to their former roles, other cast members including Daphne Zuniga, Bryan Greenberg, Jana Kramer, Tyler Hilton and Robert Buckley shared their hopes to come back in the comment section of Burton's Instagram post.
What is the new plot of the One Tree Hill sequel?
As Burton and Bush have both confirmed that they will return to their roles as Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis, who were childhood best friends during the original series, it is expected that the sequel will see them as adults 20 years later, and still best friends. But what will they be getting up to?
Deadline revealed that they could be assuming the role of parents: 'Now [they will be] parents to teens and facing challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities and grief.'
If Galeotti and Lafferty are to return, viewers could potentially expect to see a plot line surrounding how their marriage turned out and a sub-plot of their child Jamie, who was born in their senior year.
Given that Murray will not be returning, Burton's plotline of her marriage with his character remains unclear.
The last time we saw Bush's character Brooke, she fell in love with Julian (Austin Nichols) and the pair had two twin boys named Davis and Jude - it has been confirmed that they will return in the new series as teenagers.
When will production for the One Tree Hill sequel begin?
As of yet, nothing in relation to when production or when the show will air has been announced, however, sources close to Deadline revealed that the sequel is in development.
