Omid Scobie, the author behind best-selling Harry and Meghan book Finding Freedom, has announced details of his second royal blockbuster.

The journalist - and Yahoo UK's royal executive editor - has revealed his sequel is titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the the Monarchy's fight for survival and will be released on August 1, 2023.

This time, Scobie turns his focus from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to 'The Firm' and how the death of Queen Elizabeth II "dismantled the protective shield" around the Royal Family.

It will "pull back the curtain on an institution in turmoil - exposing the chaos, family dysfunction, distrust and draconian practices threatening the Royal Family's very future.

"Do they have what it takes to save it?" he asks.

Scobie's new offering will be titled, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival.

The book will also dive into the "crisis of confidence" that the House of Windsor finds itself embroiled in once again. The last few years have served up scandal after scandal for the Royal Family, leaving King Charles at the head of an "institution in turmoil" — and without the approval ratings that his late mother enjoyed behind him.

From the accusations of sexual assault levied at Prince Andrew (which he strenuously denies), foreign tours which ended in PR disaster, and Meghan and Harry's controversial exit from royal life, to the racist remarks that recently led a senior member of the royal household to resign their honorary position: there's no denying the Windsor's have lost their matriarch at a difficult time.

Scobie has covered the Royal Family for over a decade and is well placed to tackle these controversial and ambitious topics.

His first book - co-authored with Carolyn Durand - quickly topped best-seller lists on both sides of the Atlantic, selling 31,000 copies in the first five days and making it the fastest selling royal book in 20 years.

Scobie's book follows hot on the heels of Prince Harry's own book Spare, which is due to be released in 2022. Penguin Random House — who are publishing Harry's memoir — are keeping pretty tight lipped about its contents.

However, they called it "unflinching" and "intimate" in a press release, and Harry has said he hopes it will create a connection to readers as he explores the different roles he has held over the years.

"I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become," he's said.

"I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think".
