Rising track star Phoebe Gill fronts PUMA's collab with Represent 247
At the start of 2024, Phoebe Gill was like any other teenager – studying for exams and progressing in her track training. By June, she was in Paris at the 2024 Summer Olympics as a Team GB member competing in the women's 800m – the youngest Briton to do so since 1964. And the only way is up from here!
Now, the 17-year-old is the face of cult UK label Represent's latest collaboration with global sportswear brand PUMA, featuring the release of a 12-piece training collection.
This also marks the first time that 247, the performance arm of Represent, has included women's apparel and footwear in a collection, as well as being the brand's largest collaboration to date. This, it's safe to say, is a big deal.
'I'm so excited to be the face of the campaign, and I can't wait to see the future products, because they're such an amazing team of people behind it,' Phoebe told Women's Health.
'I'm a massive advocate of their messaging to combine high quality and luxury fashion with sportswear. And I think this collaboration with PUMA is important in creating a new generation of competition gear where athletes can look good and run good, which is key for good performance, because you want to feel confident and secure in yourself while you're running.'
The Manchester-born brand has long been a fan favourite with its stylish approach to men's activewear, so the release of women's kit in this latest collaboration has already got people ready and raring to shop big.
Phoebe's a big believer in the benefits of stylish kit and its effects on training. 'Well, obviously, being a teenager myself, I'm constantly thinking about fashion,' she says, 'whether it be my outfits for school or what I'm going to wear to training. And I mean, during high-key races, where you've got lots of people watching, you never want to feel insecure in what you're wearing.'
With 12 pieces included in the collection, it's undeniably the re-imagination of PUMA's best-selling Deviate Nitro Elite 3 that has caught the eyes of fans (and the WH team). In that classic muted Represent 247 colour palette with all of the hidden training tech from PUMA, it's a guarantee the trainers will sell out quick.
Other key pieces from the collection include unisex loungewear, leggings, shorts and accessories, but it's the zip crop that Phoebe thinks is the winner. 'I haven't got many sports bras which zip up at the front, I just thought it was such an interesting design...' she dishes. 'Never comes undone in the gym. I've worn it so many times, and I just love the way it makes me feel so confident while I work out.'
Alongside Phoebe, the campaign stars Represent 247 athlete and HYROX Master Trainer Jake Dearden, and Creative Director and Founder of Represent itself George Heaton. The trio are seen putting the collection through its paces, with sprints, HYROX workouts and intense training proving that the collection can hold its own.
It may not even be on sale yet, but we're sure this will be the must-have active collection to sport to the gym in 2025.
As for Phoebe in 2025? well, she's only just getting started of course. Still finishing her A-levels – where she attends St George's School – she's a hustler, to say the least.
'We've got the World Championships coming up in Tokyo, around September time, which I'm trying to get plays for. But I know it's going to be difficult with A-levels and the different stresses that all teenagers go through. So I'm not putting too much pressure on myself.'
As for the rest of us, if we hit the gym even half as hard as Phoebe those New Year’s fitness goals don’t stand a chance. Just like Phoebe, the PUMA x Represent 247 collab is built to work as hard as you do, blending style and performance for a collection that doesn’t quit.
The PUMA x Represent 247 collaboration is available to shop from 18 December at puma.com and representclo.com from £25.
