National Bagel Day deals 2025: Free bagels, discounts at Panera, Einstein, more

If you love bagels, Wednesday is a special day for you: National Bagel Day.

The bagel is truly a classic, originating in the 13th century and migrating to the U.S. in the 19th century. Its name originates from the words – "bajgiel" in Polish and "beygal" in Yiddish – for ring-shaped bread, according to National Geographic.

For some, the bagel is a perfect food. You can get it in your favorite flavor – I'm partial to plain or cinnamon raisin – and then top it with cream cheese, butter or something else. Bagel sandwiches are also delish, whether it's meat, egg and cheese at breakfast or turkey, lettuce and tomato at lunch.

Now that the hunger pangs have started, here's some National Bagel Day deals to consider. Remember to check your local bagel spots' social media accounts for promotions, too.

Starbucks: Coffee chain reverses open-door policy: Buy something or leave

Panera Bread free bagel deal

The bakery-café chain has a special "Bagel Bash" promotion running through Jan. 21 for its new Asiago Bagel Stack lunch sandwiches – choose from Chicken Roma, Spicy Steak or Zesty Tuscan ($7.99 each). Members of the MyPanera loyalty program who buy one will get a free bagel on your next visit.

Manhattan Bagel free bagel and cream cheese

On Wednesday for National Bagel Day, all members of the Manhattan Bagel eClub loyalty program will get an email with a promo code for a free bagel with cream cheese. You can still signup online or in the app for National Bagel Day.

Biggby Coffee's 50% off bagel sandwiches deal

Biggby Coffee, which has more than 200 stores across the U.S., on National Bagel Day will have a deal for 50% off bagel sandwiches at participating locations.

Einstein Bros. free bagel egg sandwich

Starting on National Bagel Day and through January, members of the Einstein Bros. Bagels Rewards program can get a free egg sandwich with purchase when ordering ahead in the app or online. The restaurant chain has a dozen egg sandwiches to choose from including the Texas Brisket Egg Sandwich and Garden Avocado Egg Sandwich.

If you're not a member yet, you can join online to get the deal.

Bruegger's Bagels free bagel and cream cheese

Bruegger’s Bagels, with more than 175 locations throughout the U.S., is giving all customers who join Bruegger’s Rewards loyalty program a free bagel and cream cheese with purchase in January to celebrate National Bagel Day. (Deal good at participating locations nationwide.)
