Fur coats are often associated with extravagance, excess, and mob wife behavior, but with her latest look, Nara Smith proved that the statement piece also has the potential to be totally chill.

The TikTok personality stepped out this Sunday in New York City’s SoHo looking impossibly chic in a fluffy fur coat. This one, in the season’s most delicious chocolate-brown hue, went down just past Smith’s hips, and was knotted at the waist. It wasn’t oversized or tacky or loud; instead, as far as fur accessories go, it was rather understated.

Smith styled the outerwear with a cozy gray sweater and loose black trousers from St. Agni. And for some playful contrast, she leaned into the coquette aesthetic via some frilly, textured black socks, which she then slipped into menswear-inspired glossy black dress shoes.

“I’m a girly girl. I love dressing up. I love fashion so much,” she said in a 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Sometimes my outfits aren’t the most practical, but then again fashion isn’t always practical.”

Smith finished the easy winter look with oval shades with golden frames, a mini black leather box bag, dangly diamond-and-gold earrings, some gold rings, and a berry lip.

As fans know, Smith came into the spotlight through her cooking videos on TikTok, in which she creates elaborate meals from scratch while looking fabulous in straight-off-the-runway ensembles. The clips have shockingly garnered much controversy, with some users bashing her for allegedly championing the misogynistic “trad wife” lifestyle. But speaking to Bazaar, Smith—a working model, content creator, wife, and mother—admitted she is mostly unbothered by the hate. “That’s what I do. I post videos of me cooking for my kids and my husband. It’s really not that deep,” she said.
