This N.Y.C. Penthouse Was Green Goblin’s Lair in ‘Spider-Man.’ Now It Can Be Yours for $2 Million.
“I could squash you like a bug right now, but I’m offering you a choice,” Spider-Man’s Green Goblin once told the beloved hero in the film’s 2002 debut. Now, the choice is yours to acquire the cinematic villain’s lair perched high above the buzzy streets of Midtown Manhattan.
Crowing Windsor Tower at 5 Tudor City Place, Penthouse 5 was occupied by William Defoe’s character named Norman Osborn in the blockbuster release. It continued to be featured in the franchise’s two follow-up films by Sony and Columbia Pictures, acting as his secret quarters where he (and his ominous green suit) hid from his arch nemesis Peter Parker, played by actor Tobey Maguire.

The Murray Hill triplex was previously available back in 2021 for nearly $2 million, and the following year, it was snagged for slightly less at $1.75 million, the New York Post reported. Now back on the market for $1.95 million with Clayton Orrigo of Compass, the Green Goblin’s former lair still gags upon entry with a cavernous great room below soaring 18-foot ceilings. A gilt-trimmed fireplace adds baronial elegance, while a towering stack of casement windows provides unobstructed views of the Big Apple skyline, including the Chrysler Building.

A powder room emblazoned with Greek-inspired murals completes the nearly 300-square-foot entry level. Venture up the hand-painted cast iron staircase to the second floor, where the renovated kitchen is fitted with white marble counters and a gleaming black marble floor. As any New Yorker can attest, the built-in washer and dryer is a huge bonus. The adjoining dining area, currently used as a study, overlooks the great room.
The penthouse’s sole bedroom, just off the dining area, comes into focus with two custom walk-in closets and a glitzy marble-clad ensuite bathroom. The latter’s all-white aesthetic might not grab your attention immediately, but the attention to detail and comfort must be paid: its hand-painted countertops are complemented by a pair of Venetian mirrors, and a heated rack ensures bath towels are toasty. One more flight up is a private terrace of almost 300 square feet. Opposite a pergola-shaded sitting area, the city skyline rises alongside a couple of the buildings distinctive carved stone spires.
Residents of Tudor City have access to the vast complex’s 2,000-square-foot fitness center, a common outdoor space, and a bike room. Other perks include a full-time doorman and concierge.
