During the first lockdown, many of us undertook major spring cleaning or DIY projects in our homes — once we were bored of making banana bread, that is.

This time around, as England begins its second lockdown, and other parts of the UK already under tougher restrictions, we imagine that much of our time will be taken up with shopping for Christmas presents, decorating the house and binge-watching festive films on Netflix with a pint of Bailey's hot chocolate.

However, if you do find that the urge to clean takes over at some stage, then we have some advice from the UK's most famous cleaning guru, Mrs. Hinch.

Well known for her quirky cleaning videos and her inventive hacks to get your home spick and span, the Queen of Clean has amassed 3.8 million followers on Instagram, who swear by her home improvement methods.

And one of her top tips for cleaning your oven is particularly useful now, as we all take up home baking during lockdown again.

'Use an old paintbrush to remove crumbs or food that may have fallen into the gaps around your oven door,' she told Red Magazine.

'You’ll be amazed how much falls away with so little work. My mum swears by this and now I do, too!'

She also advises: 'For stubborn burned-on oven stains, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on the spot, then spritz with white vinegar. Sit back and watch the mini science project get to work on the dirt. Let it bubble for 30 minutes or so before wiping off.'

And the Internet star — whose full name is Sophie Hinchliff — has even advised us on the best soundtrack to accompany our cleaning regime.

'I find music so motivational to Hinch to. If I’m listening to a song and I have a room to finish cleaning, the beat of that song will drive me on to give a little bit more,' she explains.

So, pop on the below playlist and get your oven sparkling in no time — now, where did we put those over-ripe bananas?
