Whether you’re a fully paid up member of the royal fanbase or you could take or leave the monarchy, this year has seen peak interest in the Royal Family.

From the birth of Archie Harrison, to Princess Beatrice's engagement, Princess Charlotte's first day of school and another royal wedding, 2019 has been eventful for the British royals.

But, which member has proven to be the most search-worthy?

Perhaps, unsurprisingly, people continue to be fascinated by the Duchess of Sussex who has topped Yahoo UK‘s list of the most searched-for royals for the second year running.

Yep, it seems ‘The Meghan Effect’ has shown zero signs of fading in 2019. But, the former actress has had another big year.

Alongside husband, Prince Harry, who came fourth on the list, this year has seen the royal couple tick off some pretty big milestones, starting with joining the parenting party after welcoming their son baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor back in May.

Meghan also drew attention to her style and editorial credentials after launching her own capsule collection and guest-editing fashion bible Vogue.

But, it was the Sussexes tour of South Africa that possibly courted the most searches.

The 10-day tour included a visit to Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s legacy foundation which gave the world a glimpse of a giggling Archie, and culminated in the news that the couple were planning to sue certain publications in the British media.

With so much going on, it’s hardly surprising Meghan was the royal Yahoo UK readers continually wanted to know more about.

Meghan was closely followed by sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge in the interest stakes.

Kate Middleton proved to be the second most searchable royal, with her covetable wardrobe still earning her style status and the duchess’ public engagements still highly-publicised.

And 2019 has seen a lot going on for the Cambridges too. Prince Louis celebrated his first birthday and made his Trooping the Colour debut, Princess Charlotte started school and the alongside husband Prince William, the couple underwent a five-day tour of Pakistan in October.

The mum-of-three was closely followed in popularity by the newest member of the family, baby Archie, who’s already showing the royal baby effect with his tiny wardrobe proving highly covetable. (Who didn’t adore those H&M dungarees?)

Just behind Prince Harry, was Prince Andrew who has proved search-worthy this year for far more controversial reasons, not least his much critiqued interview on the BBC's Newsnight.

Somewhat of a surprise was where the Queen appeared on the list, with the head of the monarchy slipping into 8th spot in the searched-for stakes.

In fact it was the Queen’s husband Prince Philip who proved to be more newsworthy in 2019, which considering he retired from royal duties in 2017, is something of a search anomaly.

With news of her engagement clocking up the headlines Princess Beatrice placed 11th in the most searched for royals, but despite celebrating her wedding last year sister, Princess Eugenie failed to make the top twenty.

All three Cambridge children also had search-worthy credentials with Prince Louis proving most popular, followed by big sister Charlotte and Prince George just scraping onto the list.

Other notable royals fans have been searching include the late Princess Diana, Prince Charles, who this year launched his first fashion collection, and Princess Haya, the estranged wife of Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum.
