From Harper's BAZAAR

For many of us at home over the royal wedding weekend (because we just missed out on that invitation), we noticed that the coverage was not just reserved for TV. Our Instagram feeds were, and still are, overwhelmingly royal wedding-themed.

The social media platform reported more than one million posts linked to the global event, 600,000 Instagram stories and more than 60 million people sharing, liking and commenting on royal wedding-themed content.

And the post which amassed the most likes? Well, that belonged to Mr David Beckham.

The footballer, who attended with fashion powerhouse wife Victoria wearing Dior while she naturally wore her own label, shared a congratulatory collage of a newly married Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a picture of Harry and William as children and a teenage Harry conducting charity work in Africa which brought in more than 3.6 million likes.

The second most popular Instagram post - with more than 3.1 million likes - went to someone who we don't think was at the wedding but this post seems to suggest we might have just missed her...

I had a wonderful morning. #RoyalWedding

The third most-liked post came the day before the wedding in the form of a selfie by Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, who quoted and paid tribute to Princess Diana.

Coming in fourth was Adele, who racked up 2.7 million likes, with another post paying homage to Diana on the day of the wedding:

Fifth, belonged to another wedding guest, Pretty Little Lies actress Troian Bellisario, who shared a photo with her husband - and Markle's Suits on-screen husband - Patrick J Adams. Alongside the photo, in which she wore a nude Temperley London gown, she said she was grateful to the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex for being able to "witness [their] love today".

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the most-used hashtag throughout the day was #royalwedding, followed by #meghanmarkle and #princeharry.

The Instagram account which generated the most buzz belonged to the revealed bridal dress designer fashion house Givenchy.

Next was David Beckham's, then the royal family's official account. Stella McCartney, who designed the bride's halter-style evening gown as well as guests Oprah Winfrey and Amal Clooney's dresses, was the fourth most buzzed about account while the fifth was the official Kensington Royal account which documented key moments throughout the day.
